It is the year 1963, and the dawn of the Space Age is upon us. Italian architect Joe Colombo has designed a piece that will come to define the aesthetics of the era: the Elda chair, named after his cherished wife. Originally produced by Comfort and later by Longhi, this chair boasts sinuous curves made of fiberglass and leather which are now nearing their 60th anniversary in 2023 - a testament to the timelessness of good design. Over the years, the Elda has been manufactured in three different shell colors (black, grey, and white), with a wide range of upholsteries, mainly in leather. However, the most popular version is the white shell/white leather, which easily fits into any interior design scheme. This chair has been well-preserved, with only minor signs of wear and tear on the fiberglass shell. Its original upholstery shows signs of fading and crackling but in a charming way.
