This is the Armchair mod. 4801, a 1970s creation by Joe Colombo for Kartell. The chair features a white painted wood structure with various interlocking parts, supporting a semi-oval padded seat and an oval padded backrest covered in black faux leather. This unique design is highly coveted and is considered a prized possession at modern art auctions. It can be found in prestigious collections around the world such as the MOMA in New York, the VIctoria & Albert Museum in London and the Center Pompidou in Paris. Although in good condition, the wooden structure shows slight signs of use, with an unstitched section on the back revealing glimpses of the structure. Measuring 72x74x59h and with a seat height of 41cm, this armchair is a must-have for any serious modern furniture enthusiast. Originally produced entirely in wood due to the lack of plastic manufacturing technologies, this piece is a testament to Colombo's innovative design ideas.
