The S.C.A.L. daybed, a creation of Jean Prouvé and manufactured by Ateliers Prouve in France around 1950, has undergone restoration. The metal frame has been repainted and boasts new upholstery. A new table has also been crafted based on original measurements. Despite some minor wear, this piece remains in good condition and maintains its beautiful patina. Jean Prouvé, a French industrial and furniture designer, was a pioneer of modern design, incorporating industrial engineering into his steel, aluminum, and architectural creations. Prouvé was trained as a metalsmith and collaborated with fellow French modern designers, including Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand. He was more interested in efficient design and material use than form, as evidenced in his use of sheet metal folding.
