This is an architectural grille facade feature, designed by Jean Prouve and manufactured in France by C.I.M.T in 1957. Originally a part of the Institut National des Sciences Appliquees (INSA) Doua campus building located in VIlleurbanne, France, this isolation element is made of pressed aluminum and filled with foam. Its elegant and stylish design makes it an exceptional decorative feature, resembling a piece of artwork when mounted on a wall. It coordinates beautifully with mid-century furniture and other furnishings designed by Jean Prouve, such as the chair featured in the accompanying images (not available for sale). The element is in its original condition, showcasing minor wear and bumps that come with age, having been mounted vertically on the building for 60 years. The final three pictures depict the panels still attached to the building when it underwent complete renovation a few years ago, during which many panels were destroyed. Nonetheless, a few were saved, including this highly sought-after decorative element created by one of the most renowned designers of the 20th century. This specific design is featured in the comprehensive Jean Prouve, Oeuvre Complete, Vol. 4: 1954-1984 by Peter Sulzer, Birkhauser, 2008, referenced under numbers 1332 and beyond, on pages 124-131.
