The bed has been completely coated with a vivid red-blood color. In 1934-1935, the French Army commissioned architects Abraham and Jacques Henri Le Même to design furniture for the sanatorium of Guébriant. The pieces were decorated by Jules Leleu and produced by the Jean Prouvé workshop in Nancy. The furniture included a bedside bed, a hanging desk, a chair, a two-tray pedestal table, and a visitor chair for each of the 146 rooms, all made from folded sheet except for the curved tube pedestal. While the beds and desks were designed by Jean Prouvé, it is likely that the other pieces were created by Jacques Henri Le Même or Jules Leleu. The longitudinal members and bed base of the furniture were identical to those used for the beds in the 1932 Cité Universitaire de Nancy. The J. Prouvé workshop developed the sanatorium furniture shortly after the success of their furniture for the University City of Nancy. The workshop also participated in competitions and furnished furniture for various alpine sanatoriums created by Abraham and Jacques Henri Le Même. A set of this furniture is currently on display at the Museum of the 1930s in Boulogne Billancourt. The bed is in good condition, despite some shards on the paint. The dimensions of the bed are H 91; L 200; L 133 cm. Its origin is from the Sanatorium of Guébriant in Savoie.
