The Early Isamu Noguchi coffee table Model IN50, designed for Herman Miller, features two birch wooden elements that are identical and pivoting, arranged in an inverse manner and connected by a concealed aluminum pin. The two pieces only meet at a narrow point and are topped with a thick, heavy glass surface. Although the supporting pieces have a straight plan, their irregular shapes add to their unique aesthetic. The oval-shaped glass top is not fixed to the base. This particular model is one of the earliest examples produced and showcases a thinner wooden frame, a smooth pin sans notches, and a hand-cut glass top, all contributing to its exceptional charm.
