This is an Isamu Noguchi sculpture of light called Akari, specifically the Model 1P. It is an early version of the model, easily identifiable by the iconic red sun and moon ideogram on it. This particular piece was hand-crafted by the Ozeki Company in Gifu, Japan. The Akari series began in 1951, and this model was created around 1960. The sculpture features a shade made from washi paper, with bamboo ribbing held up by a metal frame. It is in deadstock condition, meaning it has not been used since it was made. The measurements are 18 inches in height, 9 inches in width and depth, with an 8-inch diameter shade at its widest point.
