The VIntage Harry Bertoia Bird Chair for Knoll from the 1960s boasts an original Knoll fabric flame red slip cover, complemented by a metal frame coated in white and black. Being in good original condition, the High Wingback chair does show some slight signs of wear. The Bertoia chairs are a tribute to the fusion of industrial material, space, and sculpture. Bertoia's design skills were evident in the development of functional and comfortable seats, utilizing a grid of chrome-plated stainless steel rods. The rigid right angles of the grid and legs were balanced by the gentle curves of the seats, creating an innovative appearance. Moreover, the open design of the grid gives the chairs a sense of lightness despite their superior strength and durability. Owing to his designs, Bertoia created chairs that were made mainly of air, with space passing through them, with rigorous ergonomics and comfort kept in mind.
