In 2014, Val Bertoia, a contemporary artist and son of Harry Bertoia, created the Relaxing Spray Sculpture. This engaging sculpture consists of two sets of stainless-steel wires, originally crafted by his father in the 1950s-1960s, which have been fused together and mounted horizontally on a stainless steel stem and base. The work bears the inscription B-1821 and its authenticity is verified through a title from Bertoia Studio. The piece was sourced directly from Bertoia Studio, adding to its provenance. Val's upbringing in Pennsylvania, where his father had established a studio with the Knolls, and his subsequent education in Mechanical Engineering at the Indiana Institute of Technology in the 1960s, provided the foundation for his work with Harry in creating and installing large-scale sculptures for architectural projects worldwide. Continuing his father's legacy, Val launched his own sculpture business in 1979.
