This is a Diamond Lounge Chair designed by Harry Bertoia for Knoll in the 1970s. The chair features a steel wire grid form and has been reupholstered in a dark blue color by a skilled designer. It has sled legs and creates a space to comfortably sit in. The chair is a first edition from 1956 and Bertoia designed it to be like a light sculpture in the sky. To achieve its extreme lightness, he studied steel properties, shapes, and space. Originally handmade with each wire bent by hand and welded, Bertoia later worked with Bob Savage from Design & Development to create an industrial and serial production.
