Ilse Crawford has collaborated with Carl Hansen & Son to expand the Wishbone Chair collection with nine new colors, in honor of Hans J. Wegner's more than 70 years of collaboration with the company. Crawford explains that they aimed to showcase subdued, nature-inspired tones that can add complexity and depth to any interior, rather than following contemporary trends. She drew inspiration from Danish artist Per Kirkeby's paintings, which reflect his interest in nature and the colors of the Nordic landscape. The collection celebrates plants, minerals, and soil, and the colors work beautifully both individually and in combination with each other. Crawford believes that these colors can contribute to creating a warm, relaxed, and natural environment. Hans J. Wegner is one of the most innovative and prolific Danish furniture designers, renowned for his almost 500 chairs, including the iconic Wishbone Chair, which has been in continuous production since 1950. The essence of his design philosophy is to bring the soul of the furniture to the exterior through simplicity and functionality.
