In 1944, designer Hans Wegner created the "Model J16" rocking chair - a piece that boasts both functionality and comfort. Featuring simple curves and clean lines, the chair draws inspiration from traditional Shaker furniture. Crafted entirely from solid beechwood and coated in a transparent oil finish, we've maintained the chair's original state by simply removing minor blemishes and lightly polishing surfaces. Although it can be refinished if desired, the chair's slightly worn appearance adds to its charm. Authentic, aged papercord gives the chair character, darkening and discoloring over time. The FDB brand and production serial numbers are marked on the arm's underside, indicating its 1973 production. With measurements of 43 1/2" H x 28 1/2" D x 24 1/8" W x 16" H to the seat, this vintage piece is in estate condition, with natural discolorations, light surface wear and mild scuffing. The left arm features a stain and the papercord seat shows water stains, but overall, the chair boasts tight joints and is ready for everyday use.
