The chairs have undergone professional restoration and reupholstery using the premium quality of Hallingdal wool upholstery and with spot-on Danish hues for the seat cushions. If desired, the chairs can be sold separately. However, this listing is for the complete set of four pieces, comprising of the Papa, two Baby Bears, and an ottoman. An additional ottoman can be added at an extra cost. About the design: The Teddy Bear Chair or the Papa Bear chair, with its distinct wingback and outstretched arms, was creatively crafted by Hans Wegner, a pioneer of Danish modernism who produced almost 500 chairs in his illustrious career. Wegner, a cabinetmaker's apprentice, went on to study architecture and design before launching his studio and collaborating with illustrious peers like Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller. His designs epitomized Scandinavian modernism, characterized by exquisite design, quality craftsmanship, and efficient functionality. The Papa Bear chair marked his debut collaboration with A.P. Stolen, which continued over the course of his career. Originally designed with a solid beechwood frame, the chair with its elevated backrest, lengthy back legs, and comfortable cotton-upholstered cushioning, was invented in 1951 and was produced from 1953 until 1969. Danish joinery workshop PP Møbler currently manages its production, and the chair and ottoman are available in various wood and fabric finishes.
