The rush-seated Wishbone chairs are coated in a delightful shade of yellow. In 1944, Hans Wegner, a talented Danish designer, drew inspiration from Ming chairs and created a series of chairs. One of these chairs, the Wishbone (1949), also referred to as the "Y" or "CH-24," has been produced by Carl Hansen & Søn, a Danish company, since 1950. Wegner, who was born to a shoemaker, attained training as a cabinetmaker and attended Copenhagen's School of Arts & Crafts before embarking on his career as an architect. In no time, Wegner opened his own design office, and his work ultimately captivated Carl Hansen's attention. The Wishbone chair, with its lightweight and sculptural form, was a perfect addition to the Hansen company's product line, which mainly featured heavier designs that were in demand at that time. The Wishbone is constructed from the finest natural materials utilizing refined steam-bending techniques, ensuring that it will last for generations while providing exceptional comfort.
