In 1973, Hans Wegner conceptualized and designed the Opala floor lamp as part of a decoration project for the Scandinavia Hotel in Copenhagen. However, it wasn't until 1976 that Louis Poulsen produced this unique piece. Given that Wegner created only a handful of lamp designs, the Opala is a particularly noteworthy one. Its sleek, minimalist lampshade captures the essence of the era's design style, making it an enduring classic. In addition, the lamp's condition remains impressive to this day. Notably, Wegner enjoyed a prolific career and achieved accolades throughout his life until his passing in 2007.
