This is a rare Hans J. Wegner bear chair featuring oak legs and exposed armrests. The chair has been upholstered with premium leather and was originally designed by Wegner in 1968 for AP Stolen. The original model, known as the "Papa Bear Chair," was redesigned due to declining sales as the Mega or New Papa Bear Chair (Model AP69), but only a few were ever made, making this piece a true find. Hans J. Wegner is renowned as one of the most innovative and prolific Danish furniture designers, with the ability to masterfully craft chairs, including this rare bear chair. Wegner played a significant role in what is now considered the Golden Age of modern Danish design. His designs were known for their simplicity and elegance, characterized by clean lines and minimalism. Wegner began his career as a cabinetmaker's apprentice at the age of 14, studying under the Danish master cabinetmaker H. F. Stahlberg. He went on to study at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen before becoming a renowned furniture designer.
