These PP 203 chairs, designed by Hans Wegner in 1969 and produced in the early stages of production, are a rare and breathtaking set. The oakwood has been treated with oil over the past 40 years, and the set has been kept in excellent condition. Chairs from this period (late 1960s-early 1970s) are nearly impossible to find. The PP201/PP203 strikes a balance between the pp701 Minimal chair's aesthetics and the pp66 Chinese chair's construction, providing a fresh take on Wegner's work in the 1950s. The geometrically defined frame construction supports the use of the organic shapes that Wegner is well-known for in a restrained manner. The PP201/PP203 is a culmination of Hans J. Wegner's and PP Møbler's long-standing partnership, marking an essential milestone. Before 1969, PP Møbler served more as a haven for Wegner's creativity and experimentation than a business partner. Nonetheless, Wegner designed the logo, spurred PP Møbler forward to create a range of products and establish a sales department, and kept his best designs with PP Møbler for 25 years. The PP 203's arm and backrest are carved out of a single bent and carved solid wood piece, with wenge joints adding detail. These stunning chairs will be shipped overseas in an insured, custom-made wooden crate. The cost of transportation is included in the crate.
