This beautiful Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern easy chair was impeccably designed by the iconic Danish figure, Hans Wegner, in 1949 and put into production by PP Mobler in 1986. Boasting a hoop lounge style, this piece is bespoke and showcases a pleated flag line netting with stainless steel clasps, a robust soaped oak frame, and removable seat and headrest cushions upholstered in the original fabric. Despite its lightweight composition, the lounge chair is also equipped with casters on the back legs to make it easy to move as desired. A stamp from the original manufacturer is visible, and the casters are marked "Scancastor Pat. App. Made in Denmark." Wegner believed that the circle was the epitome of simple and sophisticated shapes, and he did not finalize the design for this chair until he was 72 years old. The origin of this exclusive chair is noteworthy, as described by the manufacturer. "The Circle Chair was one of the experiments that turned out to be an international sensation. It took master of crafts Soren Holst Pedersen and journeyman Henry Fisker the creation of a particular wood manufacturing machine, which Wegner himself didn't believe was achievable. Wegner and PP Mobler's contribution to the SE Exhibition in 1986 was the Circle Chair. As usual, the prototype was not finished until the very last minute - the morning of the showcase. As a result, the chair had to be quickly transported to the exhibition by master of crafts Ejnar Pedersen in his vehicle. Unfortunately, the vehicle broke down on the way, but Ejnar brilliantly managed to persuade a passing truck driver to assist in transporting the chair. Luckily, the mysterious gentleman kept his word, and everything ended perfectly. If he wanted to, he could have easily taken the chair and run."
