The FH-4283 China Chair, designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1944, is an iconic piece of furniture that marked a departure for Fritz Hansen, who had never produced a solid wood chair before. This exquisite version of the chair, crafted from Brazilian rosewood, is a rare find from the 1960s, as it was made in very limited quantities. The chair still has its original black leather seat cushion, which has acquired a charming patina over time. Wegner drew inspiration from 17th and 18th century Chinese armchairs, and it took him years to perfect his modern interpretation of these ancient designs. The result is a sculptural and functional masterpiece that embodies Wegner's unique style. Despite showing some signs of age, this particular chair is in excellent vintage condition.
