The dining table from Hans J. Wegner's 'Heart' series is a striking piece with a unique three-legged base arranged diagonally to support its circular top. Crafted from beech, the base is complemented by the natural and organic allure of the teak veneer tabletop. The stunning design exemplifies Wegner's expertise in balancing form and function, and remains a timeless icon of Scandinavian Modern furniture design. Please note that there are some scratches on the top, which only add to its character. Born in Denmark in 1914, Hans Wegner was a highly prolific furniture designer. He learned his craft from Danish master cabinetmaker H.F. Stahlberg and then continued his education at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen. Wegner collaborated with several architects and designers throughout his career and also established his own studio in 1943. His furniture designs were created with a deep understanding of materials, construction techniques, and practical use. Despite his focus on functionality, Wegner's designs also captured a sense of inventiveness and sculpture. He left behind a vast collection of drawings and designs, with over 500 of his creations going into production. Wegner's work can be found in many prominent buildings worldwide, including the UN Building and Seagram Building in New York City and NATO headquarters in Paris.
