This elegant rocking chair is a masterpiece of the early years of designer Hans Wegner, crafted by the expert carver and cabinetmaker Mikael Laursen. The ML-33 model was Wegner's debut in rocking chair design and was first displayed at the Købestævnet in Fredericia in 1942. It represents one of the few collaborations between Laursen and Wegner and showcases exquisite floral patterns that have been carved into the stained beech frame with precision and great care. Despite its small footprint, this chair is incredibly comfortable, with a generous seating area that invites relaxation. Hans Wegner was a furniture designer of tremendous talent, who truly understood the intricacies of materials, construction techniques, and functionality. While pursuing functionality, he never compromised on the aesthetics, and his designs exude a sculptural sense of style. With over 500 designs in production and thousands of drawings, his legacy lives on in iconic structures like the UN Building, Seagram Building, and NATO's headquarters, among others.
