The 'Conference' armchair, model 'B123', crafted from teak and velvet, was elegantly designed by Hans J. Wegner back in 1940 during his tenure at the Jacobsen Office. Wegner's furniture pieces were renowned for their functionality and aesthetic appeal, which were achieved through his deep understanding of materials and construction techniques. This particular chair was uniquely designed to fit the Aarhus City Hall building, which was also designed by architects Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller. The chair's simplistic design is strikingly regal due to its broad appearance, while the angulated joint of the armrest is a trademark of Wegner's earlier work. Wegner's passion for consistently perfecting his designs is evident in his relentless pursuit to create the best chair. Despite his awareness that there could never be a 'perfect' chair, he produced an extensive portfolio of over 500 designs that have been used in prestigious buildings such as the UN Building and Seagram Building in New York, NATO's headquarters in Paris, and UNESCO's headquarters.
