In 1943, at the Autumn Exhibition of the Cabinetmakers' Guild, Wegner unveiled his initial rendition of a chair that took inspiration from an antique Chinese chair he had observed at the Danish Museum of Industrial Arts. Numerous variations of the chair have come about since then. In collaboration with PP Møbler, the prototype for PP 56 was created and introduced to the market in 1989. These cherry wood and leather China chairs, manufactured by Fritz Hansen in 1999, are in remarkable condition, with only slight signs of wear on the frame. Each chair is priced individually.
