One of Hans J. Wegner's earliest designs for Carl Hansen & Sà¬∏n in 1950 was the CH23 dining chair, which set new benchmarks for contemporary furniture design with its lightweight, artistic expression, and ergonomic shapes. Despite its apparent simplicity, the CH23 chair comprises several intricate and sophisticated features, such as the graceful cruciform cover caps on the backrest, a distinct handwoven seat, and rear legs that arch backward for optimal steadiness. In 2017, Carl Hansen & Sà¬∏n reintroduced the early masterpiece to their collection, following Wegner's original working drawing. The CH23 chair is made of wood and papercord, with a walnut oil frame finish and a natural papercord seat finish. It measures 19.8in D x 19.8in W x 30.9in H and is also available in other frame finish options, such as oak oil, oak soap, oak painted black, oak/walnut oil, oak lacquer, oak white oil, walnut lacquer, and oak/walnut lacquer, as well as in a black papercord seat finish. The packaging dimensions are 33.1 H x 24.2 W x 221.9 L, and the item weighs 77.76 LBS. Overall, the CH23 dining chair is a timeless piece that exudes sophistication and elegance.
