In 1950, the CH23 dining chair marked one of Hans J. Wegner's first designs for Carl Hansen & Sà¬∏n. These early works not only embodied a distinct artistic expression, but also set new standards for modern furniture design through their ergonomic forms and lightweight construction. Despite the chair's outward simplicity, it incorporates various subtle and refined features, such as the stylish cruciform cover caps on the backrest, the specially handwoven seat, and the curved back legs that ensure maximum stability. The CH23 chair was recently reintroduced by Carl Hansen & Sà¬∏n in 2017, following Wegner's original design concept. Additional details include the use of wood and papercord materials for the chair, an oak soap frame finish, and a natural papercord seat finish. The chair also measures 19.8 inches in depth, 19.8 inches in width, and 30.9 inches in height. Alternate frame finish options include oak oil, oak painted black, walnut oil, oak/walnut oil, oak lacquer, oak white oil, walnut lacquer, and oak/walnut lacquer. Furthermore, black papercord is another possible seat finish option. Packing dimensions for the chair amount to 33.1 inches in height, 24.2 inches in width, and 221.9 inches in length, and it weighs 77.76 pounds.
