This stunning oak side table is a testament to the exceptional craftsmanship and striking aesthetic that are hallmarks of Guillerme & Chambron's work. The table top boasts exquisite veneer marquetry that adds refined elegance to its sturdy appearance. The table's distinguished geometric base is also worth noting, seamlessly integrating form and function. French designers Jacques Chambron (1914-2001) and Robert Guillerme (1913-1990) began their partnership in the postwar era. Guillerme studied design and architecture at the école Boule, graduating first in his class in 1934, while Chambron graduated from the School of Applied Arts in Reims. Their intense passion for interior design brought them together during their internment by the Germans in a Prussian prisoner camp, leading to a lifelong friendship and creative partnership. In 1948, Chambron left his job as a painter and decorator in Paris to join Guillerme in Lille, where they met cabinetmaker émile Dariosecq, owner of a nearby workshop. They founded their company, "Votre Maison" ("Your Home"), striving to create functional yet beautiful pieces suited to daily life. Their approach earned them worldwide recognition, with most of their designs boasting a bold character and expressive woodwork. Guillerme focused on design, Chambron on sales, while Dariosecq's workshop manufactured the pieces. Over the course of their career, Votre Maison produced over two thousand models that left a lasting impact on the design world.
