This is a fabulous pair of mid-century modern armchairs by the esteemed French designers Guillerme et Chambron, crafted during the 1960s. They have been recently upholstered and are in excellent condition. Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron were a formidable team who created striking, sculptural furniture that remains conceptually playful and vibrant to this day. The duo met in a forced labor camp during WWII, bonding over their shared love of design. After the war, they began their partnership and founded Votre Maison, producing over 2000 pieces in the latter half of the 20th century. Their work was influenced by mid-century modernism, emphasizing the importance of function and eschewing unnecessary ornamentation. Their furniture was designed to be used and enjoyed, and their signature touches included intricate tiles, hidden drawers, and bold textiles. Guillerme focused mostly on furniture while Chambron concentrated on decor, and together, they created a full-service design business. In 1983, they passed on the company to Chambron's son, Hervé, who continued their legacy. These armchairs are a testament to their innovative and timeless designs, and a stunning addition to any home.
