After graduating from the école Boule in 1934, Robert Guillerme pursued design and architecture. Following the Second World War, he moved to Lille and began designing furniture for the well-respected Rogier workshops, as well as decorating homes. In 1948, Jacques Chambron left his work as a painter and decorator in Paris to join Guillerme in Lille after the two met while imprisoned by the Germans in East Prussia in 1940. They discovered a master cabinet maker named émile Dariosecq who was willing to produce their designs, and the three started Votre Maison in 1949. Over the second half of the twentieth century, Votre Maison produced over two thousand models and greatly influenced design during the 50s, 60s, and 70s. The emphasis of Guillerme et Chambron was on functionality and innovative design while creating livable spaces. The furniture created by Guillerme possessed a unique style that was both staid and arresting. Jacques Chambron was responsible for decor and developing client relationships. His charismatic personality helped Votre Maison to revolutionize decor.
