This Italian masterpiece of a seating piece, designed by De Pas, D'Urbino & Lomazzi in Padova during the 1970s, boasts an exquisite deep brown leather patina and is an XL sofa accommodating three seats with excellent cushioning still in its original and superb condition, despite its age. The sofa's distinctive design features segmented walnut sides and back lending it an opulent air, making it a rare and exceptional piece of furniture. The trio's industrially advanced material and technology approach yielded innovations in furniture and temporary architecture in the 60s and 70s, including the inflatable Blow armchair, besides projects such as Osaka's Italian Pavilion which showcased pneumatic structures. De Pas, D'Urbino & Lomazzi's works are varied, creating products for lighting, office equipment, residential buildings, and more, for companies such as Alessi, Cassina-Marcatre, and Zanotta, et al. Their works have been lauded with numerous awards, including the Compasso d'Oro in 1979, and have made their way into collections in many museums worldwide. A monographic exposition dedicated by the Triennale of Milan to their work in 2012 is among numerous others held internationally, including expositions in Kyoto, Tokyo, and Geneva. While Jonathan de Pas died in 1991, D'Urbino and Lomazzi kept working together until 2017, with Lomazzi continuing alone thereafter and receiving the ADI Compasso d'Oro Award in 2018.
