These are four dining chairs crafted by Gio Ponti and manufactured by F.gli Amedeo Cassina in 1952. They were originally from a hotel in Southern Italy, and have been painted in black with newly reupholstered grey cotton for a fresh look. The chairs remain in excellent original condition and are made of ash and cotton. They measure 83 cm in height, with a seat height of 46 cm, and have a rare, original metal label. Some references to this style can be found in "Gio Ponti" by Ugo La Pietra, Ed Rizzoli, and "La fabbrica del design: conversazioni con i protagonisti del design italiano" by G. Castelli, P. Antonelli, F. Picchi. The chairs are also featured in Domus n.253, December 1950, p.108.
