A pair of luggage racks and side tables designed by Gio Ponti and executed by Giordano Chiesa for the Hotel Royal in Naples in 1955 have been reimagined by architect Cristina Longo in a limited edition of 10 pairs for a private residence in Rome. Longo utilized original items from the Hotel Royal, crafting each stand with Italian lacquered walnut and brass details such as handles, feet, and seven sections on top. The sub-shelves contain three horizontal slats and different brass sabots, and each stand measures 65 cm in height, 65x 42 cm in width, and 51.5 cm in height without the handles. The items come directly from the original furniture of the Naples hotel and are sold with a letter of authentication from Lisa Licitra Ponti. A pair of luggage racks from Compagnio Gallery's private collection, sold at a Philips Auction in London for £30,000 in March 2019, attests to the high demand for these exquisite pieces. The stands have been exhibited at various events such as Camere D'Artista: Italian Design 1930-1960, Centoventi Gio Ponti designer senza Tempo, and Gio Ponti design made in Italy: Arredi d'albergo degli anni 1950 e 1960. The items were also featured in Architectural Digest AD's March 2010 Italy edition, which showcased the same items without the brass section on top, in the house of the collection owner and ceo of Compagnio Gallery.
