This is a very rare pair of two Cassina no. 829 highback lounge chairs, designed by Gio Ponti for the Hotel Parco dei Principi in Sorrento during the 1960s. The hotel in Sorrento was built by Roberto Fernandes, who recruited Gio Ponti to design it. The lounge chairs are the non-reclinable version and feature a combination of organic forms and restrained elegance. The chairs have been newly upholstered in a soft and durable Tonus 4 fabric (color 508) from Kvadrat, which celebrates the blue and white Parco dei Principe vibe. The woodwork is refinished and in excellent condition, while both chairs retain their makers mark, Figli di Amadeo Cassina, Meda.
