TASCHEN has released a new book, accompanied by exclusive reproductions, that provides the most comprehensive account of Gio Ponti's work to date. The limited edition publication, available as one of 1,000 copies, features a hardcover book measuring 36 x 36 cm with 572 pages. It also includes a square-format reproduction of Ponti's iconic Arlecchino coffee table, originally created in 1954 as a unique example for Ponti's VIlla Planchart, exclusively. In addition, the book comes with a set of four numbered prints of competition drawings from 1948-49 for the interiors of the ocean liners Conte Grande and Conte Biancamano, which have never previously been printed and are exclusive to this edition. Salvatore Licitra, grandson of Gio Ponti and founder and curator of the Gio Ponti Archives in Milan, has signed a certificate of authenticity that is included. In short, the book offers an extensive biographical essay by Stefano Casciani, tracking and indexing 136 of Ponti's projects spanning six decades, with each object framed by the context in which the Italian designer created it.
