In the 1950s, Gio Ponti created a stunning armchair for Cassina that features a wooden structure, four sturdy wooden feet and is upholstered in fabric. While reminiscent of a classic bergere design, the overall style is decidedly modern. This armchair was selected for the placement of 300 rooms in the esteemed Hotel Royal in Naples, Italy. The original upholstery is in good condition and boasts a charming patina from the passage of time. This piece was even featured in the December 1956 edition of Domus magazine.
