George Nelson, former Design Director at Herman Miller for over 25 years, was inspired by his own architectural concept, the "Storage Wall", which proposed the use of thicker walls as a place to put things away. Herman Miller founder D.J. De Pree was impressed with Nelson's work and hired him. Nelson then examined the problems people faced in their homes and offices, designing new types of furniture to address those needs. One of his most notable designs was the Rosewood Cabinet Series of 1952 which was renamed after its signature feature, the thin edge that frames the doors and drawers. The Santos Palisander double dresser and chest has solid birch drawers, slim aluminum legs and leveling floor glides. Priced at $13,950.00, it is an exquisite piece of furniture.
