Interestingly, many of the designs attributed to George Nelson were actually created by him and his team, including some that were solely designed by other members of the studio. The story behind the creation of the Ball Clock, one of the most iconic designs, involves several designers including Isamu Noguchi and Bucky Fuller. Despite the unclear origin of some of Nelson's designs, his forward-thinking approach and vision were essential in bringing them to fruition. George Nelson's clocks are considered some of his most impressive work, with over 130 clocks designed by him and his team in just three decades. The collection arose from Nelson's realization that people no longer used numbers to tell time and that interior clocks could become more decorative. The clocks were purposefully abstract and designed to complement modernist furniture. Nelson's studio also produced desk clocks, including the Night Desk Clock, Tripod Desk Clock, and Ceramic Clock. This restored ball clock comes with an original VItra quartz movement, as the original electronic movement was replaced. The wooden balls have been stripped and re-lacquered, and the clock runs perfectly. It will be shipped insured in a custom wooden crate, with the cost of shipping included to the US.
