In December 2006, Sotheby's in New York held a sale featuring the Arthur and Evelyn Krosnick collection of George Nakashima furniture and lighting. This was actually the second collection, as the first collection of 112 pieces was destroyed by fire in 1989. Despite this setback, Nakashima worked tirelessly to rebuild the collection, replacing the lost items with what he considered better examples based on his own artistic and technical growth. Many pieces were completed by his daughter, Mira, after his passing in 1990. The sale featured several exceptional pieces, including an "Arlyn" table which set a record for the artist at $822,000, a "Minguren II" table that sold for $180,000, a "Arlyn II" coffee table that fetched $204,000, and a set of eight Conoid chairs that sold for $96,000. The catalog of the Krosnick sale has since become an important reference for collectors interested in Nakashima's work. The catalog includes 103 pages and 85 lots, with mostly full-color illustrations and price results laid in on a xeroxed sheet. Despite minor bumping to the extremities, the catalog is a nice addition to any collection.
