This is a Rare first edition vase called 'Amazonia' designed by the well-known Italian designer Gaetano Pesce for Fish Design NY. The vase is made of a soft polyurethane resin and features three legs. It is marked with Fish Design nr. 8 and is in beautiful condition. The vase stands 7.1 inches (18 cm) tall, has a width of 7.1 inches (18 cm), and a depth of 5.9 inches (15 cm). Gaetano Pesce is famous for his experimental designs and use of new and unconventional materials. He gained popularity in the 1960s with his Up-Series chairs, which were compressed and vacuum-packed in PVC wrappers and bounced back to shape upon being unwrapped. In the 1980s, he created furniture using polyurethane resin, including the Green Street Chair and the Broadway Chair. This vase is also made of soft polyurethane resin and was designed by Pesce for Fish Design NY, which was founded by the artist in New York's Soho in 1995. Using colored and translucent resins, Pesce produced a collection of vases under the Fish Design label until 1999. Each piece was marked with a Fish Design stamp and a unique number due to the manufacturing process. This particular vase is marked as Fish Design nr. 8 and is an early edition. Pesce's work is exhibited in over 30 permanent collections of the most significant museums worldwide, such as the MoMa in New York, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, Musee des Arts Décoratifs of Louvre in Paris, and the VIctoria and Albert Museum in London. He also exhibits art in galleries worldwide.
