Originally conceived by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1937 and reintroduced in 1986, these chairs are lovingly crafted by Cassina, a renowned Italian manufacturer. The iconic barrel chair boasts an impressive degree of technical complexity, having been based on Wright's 1904 design. The chair features 37 exquisitely fitting parts, each meticulously sculpted to fit into the whole. The chair's base and backrest are comprised of three pieces of solid wood, each bent at unique angles. To counterbalance any stresses that may arise during steam-bending or drying, each piece is cut in two and placed back-to-back before being glued together. Cassina's skilled carpenters then hand-finish all the intricate details, carving each joint directly into the wood.
