The iconic Barrel chair, originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1937 and relaunched in 1986, is now manufactured by Cassina in Italy. The chair's exceptional constructive complexity and timeless design are the result of its 37 parts, each fitting precisely into the other. The chair back and base are made from three pieces of solid wood, each bent at a different angle and then cut in two to counterbalance tensions. The joints are carved directly into the wood and all details are hand-finished by Cassina's carpenters. Please note that some of the images may show other colors and variations of the model. Actual colors may vary due to differences in display capabilities on various devices. Frank Lloyd Wright, the architect behind the chair, was a giant in the field who believed that architecture should balance physical, social, and spiritual needs while remaining in harmony with nature. Cassina's I Maestri collection revisits designs by the 20th century's most significant architects, while incorporating developed technology. Cassina continues to embrace innovation and the future of design, furnishing spaces completely and iconically with The Cassina Perspective.
