The Frank Lloyd Wright Cassina Midway 2 and 3 Enamelled Steel Dining Set in Gray and Red is a rare find as it includes the original Midway 2 chairs that Wright designed in 1914 for both indoor and outdoor spaces. Unfortunately, the original project ran out of funds and thus, the designs were not realized at the time. In 1986, the FLW Foundation and Cassina collaborated to produce a limited edition of the Midway 2 chair in enameled steel rod, available in different colors, including white, orange-red, dark grey (available here) and blue. This set comes with two Midway 2 chairs in original charcoal grey finish and fabric, along with the original round glass top table, signed and numbered. The Midway Gardens, built in 1914 in Chicago's Hyde Park, was a complex structure that served as an upscale, indoor-outdoor venue for concerts, dance performances, fine dining, and heavy drinking. Designed by Wright, the building featured rows of art glass and hidden entries, and Wright also oversaw the creation of the furniture, interior fixtures, artwork, and even the dishes and napkin holders. However, after 15 years of financial struggle, the Midway Gardens was razed and bulldozed into Lake Michigan as a breakwater.
