The first-generation Ford Mustang California Special is a limited-edition variant of the original Mustang that was first introduced in 1968. The California Special was designed as a tribute to the sunny state of California and featured a variety of unique design elements that set it apart from the standard Mustang model. The exterior of the California Special boasted a blacked-out grille, fog lights, and a rear spoiler, as well as distinctive side stripes and a "California Special" script badge on the rear deck lid. Under the hood, the California Special was powered by a range of V8 engines, including a 289 cu in (4.7 L) engine with a four-barrel carburetor producing 225 hp and a 390 cu in (6.4 L) engine with a four-barrel carburetor producing 325 hp. The interior of the California Special featured special features such as deluxe bucket seats, wood-grain trim, and floor mounted shifter. The California Special was only produced for two years, making it a rare and highly sought-after collector's item for car enthusiasts.
