Critic tasting note: "For this wine, Zuccardi selects one of 8 different types of soils. The deepest and thinnest don’t enter into the final equation, in accordance with the idea of having the greatest possible precision of the Piedra Infinita terroir, the vineyard that surrounds the Zuccardi winery in Altamira. This uses only estate-owned vineyards unlike Aluvional Altamira (the wine we might call “village” in the winery’s catalog) that includes grapes from Canal Uco and a third-party producer located in the same zone. The difference here is that the tannins plant themselves on the palate in a very different way. Comparing the two, this one’s tannic tension is firm and austere—even more austere than Aluvional (which is saying a lot)—prickling the tongue and leaving chalk marks on the palate. Fruity flavors surround those tannins, leaving a fruitiness that is very welcome amid so much structure reminiscent of a Romanesque church." - 97/100, Patricio Tapia - Descorchados
