This stunning Rocchetto side table boasts a lacquered walnut wood design, accented with bright orange decorations on both the base and under the table top. The piece was masterfully crafted by Poltronova, Agliana in 1964, under the creative guidance of renowned designer Ettore Sottsass. His distinguished career in design spanned many decades, during which he created expressive, emotionally charged objects that were truly unique. Sottsass' work with Olivetti, designing some of the most famous typewriters ever made, earned him a Compasso d'Oro, as well as a place in design history. He also created a host of experimental furniture pieces and participated in the prestigious MoMA exhibition titled 'Italy. The New Domestic Landscape'. In his later career, Sottsass turned his attention to architecture, receiving many accolades and honorary degrees for his contributions to the field.
