This Chinese artificial flower vase, created by Ettore Sottsass and edited by Design Gallery Milano in 1995, features an intricate design of twenty-seven different woods. It is a limited edition piece, with only twelve signed and numbered units produced in total, and this particular vase is number 7 out of 12. Despite being of age, it remains in good original condition with minor wear and a beautiful patina. Sottsass was a renowned Italian architect and designer who created a wide range of designs including furniture, jewelry, glass, lighting, and office machines. He made his mark as a designer at Olivetti where he designed office equipment, typewriters, and furniture, winning numerous awards, including the prestigious 1960 Compasso d'Oro. Sottsass went on to establish Sottsass Associati in 1980, which remains active in London and Milan, carrying on the cultural guidance, philosophy, and culture of the studio.
