The Shiva ceramic flower vase, designed by Ettore Sottsass around 1973 and curated by BD in Barcelona, is in great original condition with some minor wear that adds to its charming patina. Back in 2005, a gold prototype was created and awarded to a design student in an international competition, which was also featured in Sottsass' portrait. As a renowned Italian architect and late 20th-century designer, Sottsass became well-known for his various designs in furniture, jewelry, glass, lighting, and office machine design. He gained recognition through his work with Olivetti and earned various awards, including the Compasso d'Oro in 1960 with Elea 9003, and an honorary doctoral degree from the Royal College of Art in London. Later, he established Sottsass Associati, an architectural consultancy that designs for large international industries.
