The Mettsass table, crafted by renowned designer Ettore Sottsass and manufactured by BD in Barcelona, boasts a sleek structure made of flat steel sheets coated in an eye-catching shade of red (RAL 3001), which is also reflected in the table's painted glass top. Measuring 110 x 110 x H 73 cm, this timeless piece harkens back to the early 70s when Sottsass made many of his iconic designs for BD. Despite the passage of 40 years, the Mettsass table retains the same distinctive character and BD has expertly reproduced the original's dimensions and colors. Ettore Sottsass, an acclaimed Italian architect and designer of the modern era, was born in Austria but grew up in Milan where his father worked as an architect. With a diverse portfolio that included furniture, jewelry, glasswork, lighting, and office equipment design, Sottsass gained fame as a consultant for Olivetti in the mid-50s, where he explored color, form, and style to make office equipment more accessible to the general public. His consultancy, Sottsass Associati, founded in 1980, continued to make significant contributions to the industry, designing architecture, showrooms, interiors, and furniture for numerous international brands. Today, the studio remains true to Sottsass's vision and culture, continuing to create exceptional works in both London and Milan.
