This is a rare collection of twenty-seven wooden vases designed by Ettore Sottsass for Chinese artificial flowers, edited by Design Gallery Milano in 1995. Made from laminated wood, metal, and glass, this limited edition set includes 12 pieces per model, all stamped and brass signed. Overall, these vases are in good original condition, with minor wear that is consistent with age and use, but preserves a beautiful patina. Although there is only one small red glass missing from vase 's', this is the only set available for sale that includes each piece. Additionally, each vase has a unique measurement, making this set all the more extraordinary. Ettore Sottsass was an Italian architect and designer who was well-known for his work in furniture, jewelry, glass, lighting, and office machine design. His designs are notable for their use of color, form, and styling, which helped bring office equipment into popular culture. Sottsass was an honorary doctoral degree recipient from the Royal College of Art in London, and he went on to establish his consultancy group, Sottsass Associati. This studio designed projects on a substantial scale for international industries, including elaborate stores and showrooms for Esprit, identities for Alessi, exhibitions, interiors, and electronics in Japan, as well as furniture.
