Ettore Sottsass designed Cardamon as part of "The Indian Memory" collection in 1987, which has now been re-released by Alessio Sarri. Every item in the range is signed, numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. In the mid-1980s, Ettore Sottsass met Alessio Sarri, a young ceramist from Sesto Fiorentino, and asked him to translate one of his designs from the 1970s into ceramics. This meeting was the catalyst for The Indian Memory collection, which comprises six teapots and two fruit bowls with dusty and opaque colors and shapes that echo Indian temples. These ceramics reflect an experimentation of forms that hovers between architecture, sculpture and landscape, pushing technical possibilities to the limit. Today, Alessio Sarri continues the production of The Indian Memory, drawing on his thirty years of experience as a master ceramist and embracing new challenges with enthusiasm. He believes that ceramic is a beautiful metaphor for infinite possibilities arising from humble beginnings as mere dust.
