Originally launched in 1972, the DS-600 is a modular upholstered furniture system consisting of individual armchair elements that can be easily added to. Each element is made up of a hard foam core covered in leather and a down-lined cushion and connected with a plug-in hinge and a hide and zipper construction. The DS-600's iconic design has been embraced by many, including Tina Turner, Jerry Hall, and Mick Jagger, and has even found a home in the palace of a sultanate, where 406 upholstery elements in rainbow colors come together to create an endless sofa. Though the convex and concave curved design was brilliant, it proved challenging to turn into a producible item. However, with the perseverance of the designers and the De Sede development team, the DS-600 became the indestructible and versatile modular system it is today. The current model, Combination B, is made of high-quality, lightly pigmented Nappa leather with visible aging. It is available in various upholstery and structural options.
